"Mississippi has made me driven and awake, with my sleeves rolled up, deeply rooted in my faith, and with an enduring love of a great hang and doing absolutely nothing on a Sunday."
Love this post, Louisa! Thanks for the shout-out! After college, I left Mississippi with the intent of never returning as a resident. Homesick, I moved back 10 years later and have been here, "at home," ever since. :)
On one of her jaunts back to MS I said “you’re a fascinating human, Louisa. We should be friends. Would you like to get coffee sometime?” To which she responded that she doesn’t get coffee with people. Undaunted, I responded “How do you feel about swimming in lakes and roadside fruit stands?” Her eyes lit up and she said “Now, that, I can get into!”
Beautiful article by a shining and endlessly fascinating human and friend! So very glad she brought her wit and wisdom back to MS!
What a wonderful interview, and how lucky we all are to have you back. And I love seeing the photos of your mom!

So enjoyed this article, Louisa! I know your Mom and Dad were so very proud of you and your accomplishments!
Sounds like a fabulous person. Love your take on the Jackson Public Library and park plan - I think it is very possible!
